Governor celebrates Children's Vision Month
October 2025 as Children’s Vision Month
On October 14, Governor Jim Pillen, together with representatives from the Nebraska Foundation for Children’s Vision and the Nebraska Department of Education, proclaimed the month of October 2025 as Children’s Vision Month.
Dr. Kyle Niemann of Omaha spoke during the ceremony in the Warner Chamber of the State Capitol. He highlighted the partnership between NFCV and NDOE to raise awareness of the vital connection between healthy eyesight and a successful education. As many as 4,500 Nebraska children enter school each year with vision problems. NFCV, NDOE Nebraska doctors of optometry collaborate to provide free eye exams for underserved children.
