The NOA Legislative Conference provides an important annual opportunity for optometrists to meet with state senators en masse, and the larger the turnout by ODs, the more of an impression it makes on state senators.  Held in Lincoln during the State Legislative Session. The event focuses on legislative and regulatory issues critical to the profession and includes an opportunity to develop or renew relationships with state lawmakers.

Stephanie Sharp, JD

"A Health Law Primer: Giving Focus to Legal & Regulatory Issues Impacting Nebraska Optometrists" Stephanie Sharp, JD, will kick off the conference with an informative presentation on what you need to know about health information privacy laws, fraud & abuse issues, practice lifecycle considerations (from formation to integration) and other legal and regulatory concerns for Nebraska ODs. Stephanie is an attorney with McGrath North a practice focused on helping clients in the healthcare industry navigate the vast network of rules and regulations governing providers and their business partners. She is able to provide legal guidance on a broad range of topics, including HIPAA Privacy and Security rules, Medicare and Medicaid regulations, fraud and abuse matters, licensing issues, and change of practice ownership. She is experienced in drafting and negotiating contracts, employment agreements, lease agreements and corporate policies. It's a session that is sure to leave you with valuable takeaways for your practice! 


Plan to stay briefly following lunch with state senators. Attendees will be signing personalized notes to senators and we will be taking photos of members with senators. Bring business cards!
