Foundation for Children's Vision

Volunteer

The Nebraska Foundation for Children's Vision (NFCV) is a not-for-profit educational and charitable foundation whose mission is to assure that every child is visually prepared to learn.  The Nebraska Optometric Association (NOA) provides in-kind staff support to the foundation and NOA member doctors serve on the NFCV Board of Directors.  The NOA and its members provide the bulk of financial support to the foundation annually.

Approximately 80% of what children learn in school is visual, from reading textbooks to viewing whiteboards and participating in classroom activities. NFCV helps children get the vision care they need so that they can meet their fullest potential in school and in life.

NFCV coordinates and supports three charitable public service programs that provide vision care to Nebraska children, in collaboration with NOA.  NFCV also maintains a fund to cover costs of eye care and eyewear for underserved Nebraska children who have no other options for care.

  • See to Learn - free vision assessments for any 3-year-old.
  • InfantSEE - free vision assessment for any infant from 6 mos. to 1 year old.
  • School and Community Clinics– one-day vision clinics for Nebraska schools.
  • Sight for School Fund- covers exam fees and cost of eyewear for underserved children who do not qualify for other state charitable care options.

Your donation to NFCV underwrites charitable vision care for Nebraska children in need and helps the foundation increase public awareness.
