We’re seeking a dedicated Optometrist to provide quality eye care to the underserved communities of N.E. Nebraska and N.W. Iowa. We are prepared to make a significant investment in creating a leading-edge, full-service optometry department within our facility.

About the Position:

At TCUH, we believe that the optometrist is the hero of primary eye care, enabling and safeguarding their patient’s ability to experience his or her best vision and ocular health. For many people, an optometrist is also the first point of contact into the healthcare system. The eyes can offer a glimpse into patients’ overall systemic health, and thus this first touch point can be critical for patients getting the care they need for other serious health conditions.

As our new Optometrist, you will be walking into an amazing opportunity to help grow an existing optometry department within a multidisciplinary healthcare setting. With strong leadership support and the latest technology, this role offers the chance to shape the future of eye care in an underserved community. This position will be ideal for a Doctor of Optometry who wants to focus on their patients as part of an integrated team serving an indigenous population.

Other healthcare services provided by the hospital and the Tribe’s Public Health Department include primary care, inpatient care, express care clinic, pharmacy, radiology, emergency care, medical laboratory, physical therapy, social services, dental, optometry, audiology, behavioral health and more.

Join our passionate team on a mission to deliver accessible, patient-centered, comprehensive optometric care with a focus on delivering medical optometry and ocular disease management for patients of all ages. We have office hours, reasonable workloads and compensation and benefits packages that are very competitive.

Why Live Here?

Most staff live about a half hour from 12 Clans Unity Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa. Sioux City offers rich access to nature, rivers and trails. For those who prefer arts and culture, there are several museums, an art center and an interpretive center. For sports enthusiasts, we have a baseball team, the Sioux City Explorers; an indoor football team, the Sioux City Bandits, as well as our hockey team, the Sioux City Muskateers.  There is a Hard Rock Casino in Sioux City, and every year the city hosts the Saturday in the Park music festival in Grandview Park on the first Saturday in July.

About the Role

  • Full-time Optometrist position
