    Report of Actions of the
    Accreditation Council on Optometric Education
    at the ACOE Winter Meeting
    February 9-11, 2007

    At its February 9-11, 2007 Winter meeting in Alexandria, Virginia, the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education took the following actions:

    NOTE: The date behind the names of the programs below is the next currently scheduled full evaluation visit.

    1. Preaccreditation Actions

      • None


    2. Continuing Accreditation
      Classification of “Accredited” continued following a full evaluation visit:


      • Dimock Community Health Center, Residency Program in Family Practice Optometry, which is affiliated with New England College of Optometry (2013);
      • Dorchester House Multi-Service Center, Residency in Family Practice Optometry, which is affiliated with New England College of Optometry (2013);
      • Eye Health Partners of Middle Tennessee, Residency in Ocular Disease, which is affiliated with University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry (2013);
      • Jesse Brown Veterans Affairs Medical Center/Hines Veterans Administration Hospital, Residency in Ocular Disease/Low Vision Rehabilitation, which is affiliated with Illinois College of Optometry (2013);
      • Seidenberg Protzko Eye Associates Residency in Ocular Disease, which is affiliated with the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (2013);
      • State University of New York, State College of Optometry Residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses (2013);


    3. Denial of Accreditation
      Accreditation denied following a full evaluation visit*


      • Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Residency in Primary Care Optometry, which is affiliated with Pennsylvania College of Optometry;


    4. Withdrawal of accreditation by ACOE* 

      • Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Residency in Primary Eye Care - Department of Veterans Affairs, which is affiliated with Pacific University College of Optometry;


    5. Voluntary withdrawal of accreditation

      • None  

    *Denial or withdrawal of accreditation is not final until the ACOE appeals process has been exhausted, or until 30 days from notification of the withdrawal or denial action.
